Lessons in Leadership from Sir Alex Ferguson

By Mark Chester, 07 August 2017

With the holiday season in full swing, many are now off on summer breaks.  However, here at CAS Towers, we are still busy at work.  I am delighted to announce that Geosynethetics have agreed to be the sponsors for the AGM event at Bartletts next month.  Their technical officer, Owen Hutchison, is a CAS member, and we have a long-standing association with the company.  He will be on hand at the event. to answer any questions you may have.

The CAS autumn programme is now in full swing, with the TPO course at Sparsholt College on 23rd October, the Amenity Tree Valuation course, again at Sparsholt, on 1st and 2nd November, and Keith Sacre’s Young Trees course at Barcham’s on 30th and 31st October, and 1st November.

The long-awaited Mortgage course is nearing launch following its review by Lantra.  The review panel met this past week to agree the final details, and we are hoping to have dates for running it in the very near future.  I have seen the contributions made to the updated syllabus, and am impressed by those who have had input.

Finally, as it is the first week of the month, we have the business blog.  In the first of a two-part series, we explore how the leadership skills of two very different football managers contributed to their success, and how this could help those charged with running small business.  We start with Sir Alex Ferguson, arguably the greatest football manager in Britain, and of the greatest in Europe.  The key theme for him, as he built a legacy with 38 trophies in 26 years:

It’s all about the people….
